Laser Hair Removal

Our newest addition to our laser cosmetic practice is the Sciton Laser.

The major benefit of this laser is its patented cooling which has decreaed the discomfort level dramatically.

The 1064 ND YAG Laser is safe on all skin types from the fairest person who always burns in the sun, to dark ethnic skin that never burns. Tanned skin can be safely treated, as well.

The infrared 1064 NDYag laser passes through the skin. Only when the infrared beam encounters the pigment in the hair bulb of the growing hair, does the energy convert to controlled heat. This localized heat at the growing hair bulb damages the hair. Each treatment will permanently eliminate about 20% of the growing hairs.

The computer sets the parameters and places the beam in an optimum pattern for your skin to ensure a safe, fast, effective and gentle treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT
Some redness and slight redness may be present in the areas treated. This should subside within a few hours.

Keep the area clean and use a sunblock of at least SPF 15 when outdoors.

PREPARATION BEFORE TREATMENT
All areas should be clean before treatment. No self tanning products should be on the skin to avoid excess skin absorption of the infrared energy. Do not wax or pluck any areas that are to be treated for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. Hair may be shaved up to several days before treatment. Only growing hairs are sensitive to laser therapy.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED
Usually 3 to 5 treatments will remove most of the hair. Usually after a treatment most hairs will fall out. But some start to regrow. By treating an area every 6 weeks, we can maximize the number of growing hairs and increase the treatment effectiveness.

CAN INGROWN HAIRS BE TREATED?
These problem hairs can safely be treated with the Sciton Laser.

IS THERE A RISK OF COMPLICATIONS?
Temporary pigment changes are possible but seldom occur. Bleaching creams before and after a treatment can minimize such problems.
